Esbjerg is situated on the North Sea in Denmark’s Ribe region, close to the border with Germany. It has a population in the region of 85,000 people and is Denmark’s 5th largest city.
A lively city with plenty going on, Esbjerg is packed with museums, galleries, restaurants, cafés, bars and clubs and is home to a Performing Arts Centre designed by the world-famous architect of the Sydney Opera House, Jørn Utzon. The city centre also boasts Denmark’s largest swimming stadium and tropical swimscape and there are several excellent golf courses in the area.
Not far to the south of Esbjerg is the historic city of Ribe, which is one of Denmark’s oldest and best preserved city’s and a popular tourist destination, with cobbled streets and half-timbered houses. Esbjerg is also an excellent place from which to visit the rest of Denmark and benefits from excellent air, train, sea and road access to the rest of Scandinavia and Europe.
