St. Petersburg is often called the Venice of the North. It is a city built on islands. These architectural constructions are part of the rich history of the city and are its full-fledged citizens.

St. Petersburg can be called the cultural capital of Russia. One can not visit St. Petersburg and hasn’t seen at least one of its numerous theaters and museums. Hermitage, Russian Museum, Pushkin House, Kunstcamera, Museum of Ethnography, each museum presents a certain milestone in the history of the city and Russia.

Peterhof striks in its grandeur and solemnity, with its beautiful palaces and numerous fountains. This architectural ensemble can be called a museum city.

If you are an opera and ballet admirer, you should definitely visit the Mariinsky Theatre. You can feel being in the center of cultural events and watch the best actors performance, both Russian and abroad.

If you love theater, be sure to visit the Drama Theatre. BDT is one of the best theaters in Russia with a wonderful repertoire.
