The result of “Aerosvit”Airlines” and “Donbassaero” in 2008 has proved the effectiveness of cooperation under Strategic alliance “Ukrainian Aviation group” that was found at the beginning of 2007. Disregarding the world drop in passenger flow in 2008, both airlines significantly increased the volumes of transportations due to optimization of schedule, creating new connections of flights and generating new passenger flows.
In 2008 both airlines carried 3040 thousand passengers – 21% more comparing to 2007. In 2008 net passenger turnover carried by the members of the Alliance increased by 16% - to 5852 mln. passenger-kilometers. Compare it to the forecast of IATA – in 2008 world passenger turnover grew by 2% and passenger turnover of the airlines-members of Association of European Airlines grew by 1.5%.
In 2008 both companies saved their market positions. In fact, the airlines of “Ukrainian Aviation Group” provided half of the volumes of passenger transportations among Ukrainian carriers. In 2008 “Aerosvit” and “Donbassaero” have carried out 35956 flights, that is 20% more comparing to 2007. 29964 have been performed by “Aerosvit”, while “Donbassaero” performed 5992 flights.
Net weight of cargo made up 10627 tons, 10117 tons out of it were carried by “Aerosvit”, while “Donbassaero” carried 510 tons. Net growth of cargo transportations for 2008 was 13%.
According to the results of operational activity in 2008 each company-member of the Alliance demonstrates sustainable growth:
- “Aerosvit” has carried 2510 thousand passengers, that is 22% more comparing to 2007.
- “Donbassaero” has carried 530 thousand passengers, that is 17% more comparing to 2007.
- Passenger turnover of “Aerosvit” grew by 16% to 5260 mln. passenger-kilometers.
- Passenger turnover of “Donbassaero” was 592 million passenger kilometers that is 21% more comparing to previous year.
